     Her journey began with her first novel Out There, In There written, published, and set in western Colorado. The ghost stories collected were local legends. As it grew, she fictionalised the work. From there, her book Pu'ka was set in the south but linked to her first book through the characters.

     The pyracy books were inspired by a simple camping trip in the Rocky Mountains. One nightmare gave way to 30 chapters written in 30 days. She was an actual captain of a re-enactment pyrate crew in land-locked Colorado. The crew had a ship on wheels and 5 cannons for performances.
